The robotaxi service went commercial in Dallas on 2025-12-03 with all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles across roughly nine square miles, integrated directly into UberX, Uber Comfort and Uber Comfort Electric at no price premium, so riders are matched to an AV rather than choosing one. That integration gives Uber unusually clean data on AV preference at price parity. Safety specialists remain onboard. Avride manages its own fleet initially, with Uber expected to take over day-to-day fleet operations later, mirroring the Waymo arrangement. Fleet target is up to 500 vehicles, expanding to hundreds in Dallas over the next few years.
