Positioning

NTT data center business is one of the three largest globally by the company own claim, excluding China, with approximately 1,500 MW of capacity as of 2025-03-31 and, per the SGX listing materials for its REIT, more than 2,200 MW of IT power in operation and under construction across 133 buildings at 91 sites. Doug Adams, who cofounded RagingWire in 2000 before NTT Communications fully acquired it in 2017, runs the division and oversees more than 160 data centers in over 20 countries against more than USD 10 billion of capital development committed through 2027. In the six months to 2025-05-13 it secured land across seven markets supporting nearly a gigawatt of planned capacity, including a 53-acre Milan site for 128 MW and 32 acres at Tochigi near Tokyo. The structural move of the period is financial rather than physical: NTT DC REIT listed on the Singapore Exchange in July 2025 with six assets in the United States, Austria and Singapore totalling roughly 90 MW of IT load and valued at about USD 1.5 to 1.6 billion, sponsored by NTT Limited, explicitly to recycle capital and fund further building. Simultaneously NTT took NTT DATA private to remove the parent-subsidiary listing conflict that the company said was slowing large data center investment decisions. Commercial scores 4 rather than 5 because no separate Global Data Centers revenue line was obtained and the group-only view requires a notch down.
